Ledge Counsel and NCFL meet with the Hispanic Caucus
The National Center for Family Literacy’s Policy Director Tony Peyton, Hispanic Family Learning Institute Director Deborah Hassan, and Washington Office Director Alan Lopatin met with staff of the Members and Leadership of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus to brief them on the results of our Hispanic Family Learning Summit. We discussed legislative implementation of the Summit's recommendations and fielded questions from the legislative representatives. Plans were discussed, including cosponsorship of the FLUEnT Act and No Child Left Behind reauthorization as well as family literacy efforts in the 110th Congress and the new Administration. Further follow-up and individual and group meetings are anticipated.
