Memorial Recess
Congress returns from its Memorial Day District Work Period with a stretch run of activity to Independence Day. High on the agenda: appropriations bills for Fiscal Year 2010. With President Obama's Budget as guidance, House and Senate Appopriations Committees will turn to constructing priority measures with tighter fiscal constraints. But while the work of "keeping the trains running" will adhere to the regular schedule, action on healthcare reform is certain to capture the headlines. Public advocacy will fill the airwaves in this high stakes effort by the Obama Administration and its allies on Capitol Hill. Tackling healthcare reform could be the precursor for a generation of make or break fiscal decisions: Medicare, Medicaid, and more.

Stay tuned.
